MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATION — AGAIN
On the last day of the session, the House of Representatives got into a supremely high glee. An abstract of some of the proceedings may not be uninteresting.
Compliment to Col. Mclnnis
After the usual resolutions of compliment to the Speaker and Clerks -were adopted, M. Allen offered the following resolution:--
"Resolved unanimously, That the thanks of this House be tendered to Col. Mclnnis, the honorable member from Greene, for the good humor with which he has treated this House, while indulging in so much innocent amusement at his own expense."
The resolution being adopted by acclamation, Mr. Mclnnis arose, and said:—
"Gentlemen, I feel highly honored by the bill jist passed, and I thank the House for their kindness and hospitality,
Question of Expense,
The honorable member then paused for some moments—and then in a thoughtful mood, proceeded:--
"Gentlemen, I don't like that are about it's being at my expense.	I don't want that	to	stay in the bill; and I move	to
'mend by	strikin out all about	expenses, and say at the expense
of the public."
This amendment was adopted—and all must admit that the avieudntint possesses -,.:uch 1 e s s of ^rcenecs than the gentleman fr f>m Greene was aware of.
