On 14 March 1944, I received the above "Ancient Order of the Deep" certification as we crossed the "International Date Line", while on board the S. S. Cape Cod, in the Pacific Ocean, enroute to New Guinea. Our ship departed Hampton Roads, Virginia, sailed through the Caribbean Sea, continued through the Panama Canal, then in the Pacific Ocean destined for Milne Bay, New Guinea and participation in war against the Japanese.
