THE L-W. ANDERSON GENEALOGICAL LIBRA
The L.W. AJNDERSON GENEALOGICAL LIBRARY was established in 1987. by Anne Anderson, to promote the study of genealogy. The library is named for Mrs. Vassar (Lulu Williams) Anderson, grandmother of Ms. Anderson. This collection is non-profit under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Servicc Code and donations are tax-exempt.
To further education in the field of genealogy, the library has sponsored seminars with well-known speakers, and was the Host Society for the 1980 National Genealogical Society Conference.
This library has experienced phenomenal growth since its inception; due in part because purchases are centered around patron request. The holdings have thus been able to grow outside just the "Southern Area" and continues to grow in many different directions.
Bound materials include records from over 30 states, with concentration on official Birth, Marriage, Ob'ituary, Probate, Cemetery, Bible, Land, and Military Records. The film collection is extensivi and is comprised of numerous Federal Censuses, Military Records, and Special Collections. A few items of interest include but are not limited to:	New England Historical and Genealogical Society
Magazines, Spanish Magazines, General Index to Revolutionary and Civil War Soldiers, The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, Nacogdoches Texas Archives, Barbour's Connecticut Collectioi The New Jersey Archives, The NGS Magazine, and much, much more.
The library . received the 1985 NGS Award of Merit. In April 1988, Ms. Anderson received the NGS Distinguished Service Award for- her contributions to the field _ of genealogy. She has been honored by the local Morman Stake Library and several societies.
The library is located on the coast campus of William Carey College HOURS OF OPERATION ARE:	9-am to 3 pm Wed.-Fri. Sat. by appointment

DIRECTIONS FROM 1-10:	Take the Gulfport Cowan-Lorraine exit, SOUTH
Stay on this road until the junction of Cowan Road and U.S. Highway 90 (the "Beach Road"). At that red-light, make a left turn. Drive East approximately h mile. On the left is an on-ramp for the service road running parallel to Hwy.	90; get up on this road,
continue to drive east, past the Navy Retirement Home and four private' homes. You will then see .a Red & White sign, "William Carey College". Turn north onto the campus. Follow the horseshoe drive to the right, to the student parking lot. The L.W. Anderson Genealogical Library is located in the building directly behind the swimming pool.
