Charlene Clark, Miss Hospitality of Bay St. Louis, and Mayor Larry J. Bennett un-vell the ‘‘Old ShieldBboro” historical marker, re-dedlcated In ceremonies Thursday afternoon. Set up In 1958 on U.S. 90 near the Bay Bridge, the marker was moved to the grounds of City Hall at the request of the Hancock County Historical Society. One of the oldest communities In the United States, Bay St. Louis was originally named for Thomas Shields who received the land In a grant from Spain in the 18th century.
