BHS flag football jamboree to benefit Hancock Food Pantry Bay High School’s Student Council will host an all-girl football jamboree on November 9 at J. D. McCullouch Stadium. The activity will benefit the local food pantry. According to council president Cody Thomas, “We have prepared food baskets in the past, and found participation to be very low, so we decided to promote an activity that would give the student body a more active role.” Anticipation of the game is running high among students, parents and area merchants, according to Thomas. Several area merchants are sponsoring the teams for this event. Southern Printing of Pass Christian, Kmart and Wal-Mart in Waveland, and Peter’s Weiners all contributed to the preparations for the games. In game one, the Burger King Pantherettes (10th grade) will play the Pizza Hut Lionettes (9th grade). In game two, the Domino Pizza Tigerettes (12th grade) play the McDonald Cougarettes (11th grade). The third game will be a playoff for the championship. Everyone is guaranteed a good time, and the proceeds will go toward a worthy cause—to feed those in need. The Student Council additionally plans to make a donation to the survivors of Hurricane Hugo and the San Francisco Earthquake. Principal Roger James stated, “The game is a fine activity, and we thank all merchants and parents who helped the students to plan and execute the activity.”
