Although Bay St. Louis is predominantly Catholic in religious preferences, many sects of the Christian faith have pretty churches, as well as excellent kindergartens.
Freedom of choice in religion is honored with gentle tolerance and truly there j/ no racial prejudices to speak of, with blacks serving as teachers, police officers, and in equal opportunity business establishments.
Although currently somewhat of a melting pot of cultures,
Bay St. Louis retains some of the Old World charm of
French and Spanish &antecedents. But here in
Bay St. Louis we generally refer to ourselves as Hancock Countians.
Also we are sort of go-together^	a_ ?.
Ham and eggs go together, crackers and cheese go together and Waveland and Bay St. Louis go together. They join hands as "sister cities" in Yacht Club facilities, in Garden Club Activities, in Hospital Auxiliary actions, Little theater plays, and citic organizations such as Rotary Club, Lions Club, etc.
At one time there was a space of some four miles between Bay St. Louis and Waveland. Today you cannot determine where
and Waveland begins! That?s good. And
