Ronnie Hague left the Church that year. On February 6, 1947, Dr. Wilkinson announced that Don Moore, Director of the local radio station W.X.G.R. had met with him and worked out a radio Schedule. Our Church would have April 17th as the first time to broadcast.
In April, 1974, our present pastor, Nathan L. Barber, was called by the Church. From that time the Church experienced a spurt of growth.
During 1975 nine baskets were delivered in "Sharing Christmas", filled with food for the needy by the Men's Class. The Church approved the request of Ri ley Walker, son of W. B. and Merle Little, for Ordination to Gospel Ministry. The Church bought three hundred new hymnals and gave others a chance to donate to the fund by purchasing outright or as memorial gifts. A long rarge planning comnittee was appointed as follows: Robert Magee, Dr. Ramsey, Noreen Barnes, Ethel Ladner, Ray McIntyre, and Jules Poolson. In July a recorrmendation was made by Ray McIntyre for our Church to sponsor a Mission at Diamondhead. ?Hie Mission Gxunittec ap|x>inted was Robert McGee, Ed Holbrook, and Peggy Tedford. Merle Little was designated as Church Clerk and Peggy Tedford was employed by the Church as Music Director. A reaxnnendation w'as made to sell a piece of property across the street from the Church behind the U. S. Post Office.
William Carey College moved its Extension to the Coast in 1976. The Church sent "resolutions? for its support of the college. The Church continued to give 2% of the budget for restoration of Gulf shore-' Assembly Center for one more year. On July 14,
1976 our beloved Interim Pastor E. N. Wilkinson passed away to his reward on high.
On May 15, 1977, the Church voted unanimously to renovate the sanctuary at a cost of $16,000.00. On May 16, 1977, in the early morning hours the Church building was ravaged by fire. The greatest damage wus done in the pulpit, choir loft.
