THE MAILS
In consequence of the rigid quarantine established by Mobile and other places, the trains east of Ocean Springs have been discontinued.
Through trains on Mobile Railroad are discontinued from this date - September 18, 1878. All mails for Eastern and Northern points from New Orleans heretofore sent over that line will be dispatched via Cairo and N. 0. R. P. 0.
Local mails for Biloxi and all points west on the Mobile Railroad will be sent by evening train on that line.
Mail for offices between Biloxi and Mobile will be xsriisxnsr retained in New Orleans Post Office.

EASTERN ROUTE OPENED AGAIN
The following telegram from Mobile from the Superintendent of the Railroad was received yesterday:
New Orleans, La., Sept. 18, I878 To Gen'l A. S. Badger, Post Master:
I	have arranged with the Mobile and Jackson County authorities so that all mails can pass through as heretofore.
You can send all mails, local and through, for this line tonight.
South bound mails will come as heretofore.
