Conversation Joey Cain had with Mr. And Mrs. Carrio, 224 Washington Ave, PO Box 3594, Bay St Louis, MS. They said they knew the Heitzmanns and the Rudolphs very well.
Mr. Carrio, “Willie Rudolph used to open oysters and had a shelf above his bench where he opened the oysters. He kept a bottle of whiskey on the shelf that he sipped on while he worked. He also kept a bottle of Purex bleach on the shelf to clean up the work area when he finished. One time he had been sipping the whiskey and took a swig of bleach by mistake and had to be hospitalized!”
Mrs. Carrio, “ Everytime Willie saw me he would say hello 2-2-2. My dad was born February 2, 1902. Your Grandpa Heitzmann was a good dancer.”

Conversation Joey Cain had with Leatrice Heitzmann Servay. Lea recalled a story about Grandma Heitzmann(Mamie Rudolph) going to New Orleans one time and was shopping, perhaps in the French Quarter and went into a small store that had the door propped open with a huge Bible as a door stop. She told the owner that was a sin and he agreed and told her if she wanted it she could take it—she did. It was from an Irish nun who had come to N.O. from Ireland and she kept it for years. Lea had it and now her son has it. It has been ruined from Katrina, but Lea says Pat, her son, who lives in Mandeville area cannot seem to throw it away!
