It was the custom in those days to have what came to be known as the May Festival at Bay High. Aunt Mae made many, if not all, of the evening gowns.
I don't ever recall going to Aunt Mae's house when she wasn't dressed to the nines. There was always a nice dress, beautifully done red nails, and ever-present high heels. I guess she had too many visitors to her home to risk being caught poorly dressed. Her hair was always perfectly done,
ully waved. Even after all these years, it seems apparent to me that
