The 100 Men D.B.A. Hall or 100 Men Hall, a longtime center of African American social life and entertainment, is located at 303 Union Street, Bay St. Louis. The craftsman vernacular structure was built in 1922 by the One Hundred Members ’ Debating Benevolent Association and is a historic venue on the Mississippi Blues Trail (FEMA photos 2013).
Our Lady of the Gulf, the Catholic Church located along the Bay, claimed 3,000 parishioners, making it the largest Roman Catholic parish in the state. The church itself under construction continually from 1908 to 1926 was made of tan brick and built in the Italian Renaissance style, with German stained glass on the interior (Federal Writers’ Project of the Works Progress Administration, 1938). This Romanesque Revival style'church building is extant and is located at 228 South Beach Boulevard. Associated buildings are the Our Lady of the Gulf Parish Center (1995), Our Lady Ae&lemy Catherine McCauley Hall (2001) and Our Lady of the Gulf Rectory (2008).
