Thoreau found Walden Pond a quiet, tranquil place and he told millions of people about it. Residents of Hancock County are much like Thoreau in telling stories of Sun-Kissed beauty in their corner of the universe.
The Mississippi Sound and St. Louis Bay bring the sea breezes late at night and during the day those same shores are filled with fisherman and bathers. Due to its mean temperature of 68 degrees, fishing and swimming aro year-round activities for residents and tourists.
Situated directly on the banks of the Mississippi Sound, Waveland and Bay St. Louis have all the beauty, educational opportunities and industrial potential to make them even greater cities.
St. Stanislaus,	founded in 1854,	is the oldest educational
institution on	the	Gulf Coast. It	offers	educational	and
spiritual guidance for boys from the sixth to twelfth grades. The school has built a reputation for quality education conducted by	the	Brothers of the	Sacred	Heart. A	new
air-conditioned	school and Student	Union,	a residence	halt
containing study bedrooms with private accommodations and an Olympic size swimming pool are the newest additions to grace the campus. In addition to classroom work, the individual student is guided in independent study projects. Christ Episcopal day school lends itself to the educational atmosphere of the area in locating hidden talents in boys and girls and developing them to maximum potential. The staff and facilities are second to none.
Waveland, twin sister to Bay St. Louis, is located a few miles to the South and its quiet. Southern atmosphere is envied by visitors and enjoyed by residents.

Say St.
BAY ST. LOUIS - A City so fashioned with history, that only a small portion can be mentioned here. With two names, it seems very romantic that Her name was changed from Shieldsboro to Bay St. Louis.
The Bay of St. Louis and the Mississippi Sound, off Her shores, are the sites of the Naval Battles which took place during the War of 1812; where a young Captain, by the name of Zachary Taylor, commanded a garrison of five hundred troups for three years, and later Captain Taylor became the Tenth President of the United States.
She houses many beautiful shops, stores and restaurants; and boasts proudly of the "Sweetest Mile on Earth" and the Candy Kitchen, where pralines are made fresh hourly.
Live here? Over 6,700 people do and enjoy every minute of it. Ya'II come. O.K.? o.k..
