The Ocean Springs held her position of third in the race.
The Harlequin was next, winning her prize with ease, and the Julia Lake winning hers beating the Pelican, Louisette and other boats of the higher class.
Prize Presentation
The silver prices were presented by Col. Geo. Clark; the beautiful flaps were presented by Cant. Geo. Blakesly on behalf of Fr. and Frs. Stapleton; and the purses were presented by J. W. Fairfax, Esq., giving to all an equal chance to make neat and appropriate speeches, and to receive the kind replies of the winners.
Thus has ended one of the most pleasant reunions of the season.
The citizens of the Bay deserve the thanks of all for starting the ball and again reviving the spirit of boat sailing; and the Kobile Yacht Club deserve their share for coming so far from home to contest for the prizes, even if they did win two out of the three, and I trust they may all live to win many more.
I owe my friend, CsPt. Blakesly, many thanks for his kindness, and will try and reciprocate by patronizing the beautiful Camelia whenever I am without a fifty cent city bill, and I can never forget the courtesy and kindness extended roe at this place, and shall te happy to test it again.
