A CORRECT STATEMENT OF THE NUKBER CAS^S OF FEVER
The following communication from Dr. Smith gives us an accurate statement of the conditions of affairs at Pass Christian.
Pass Christian, Kiss., Sept. 10, 1878
To the Editor of the Picayune:
As I understand our place is suffering from an exaggerated report of the presence of yellow fever, you will oblige those interested by publishing the following statement of facts:
Since August 29, we have had 15 cases, one of which proved fatal (a I'r. Dorand of New York), who died on September ^th.
The others are under treatment, and are doing well.
The disease is of a very mild type, and confined to the immediate neighborhood of the steamboat wharf.
