Yachting Activities of Henry 15. Chapman
One of mv early activities was rigging an old bed slieot on a baby carriage and sailing down Beach Boulevard in Bay St. Louis. This had to be discontinued because it frightened the horses and caused one runaway, wrecking a surrey.
1903	? Sailed fishing
skiffs	with the old type
sprit sails and crewed on ?sand bagger? cat boats and sloops.
My father, W. J. Chapman, owned and sailed a Cape Cod cat boat, named ?Virginia? for my sister. This boat was 23 feet, gaff rigged, carried 1500 pounds of lead ballast in the bilge, 100 pounds of lead in the center board, and twenty-four 75-pound sand bags in heavy weather. Her mast was 59 feet tall and she carried a	large	spinnaker.	During the	period 1907 to 1913,
my	brothers,	Alfred	and	William,	and I built one cat
boat and two sloops, which we successfully raced on the Gulf Coast and Lake Pontchartrain.

1952	? This has now become one of the outstanding regattas of the Gulf Coast, being sailed in 24 Fish boats with six skippers and crews from each of the four Mississippi Coast Yacht Clubs. In one of these regattas, there were 26 direct descendants of my father, sailing as skippers or crewmen.
