? A s i m T H E P 0 0 R F A M I L Y DANIEL POOR sailed from Southhampton, England with sixty others in May of 1638 aboard the "Bevis of Hampshire", Robert Matten, Master, bound for New England. He gave his age as 14 and with his brother Samuel Poor who was 18 and his sister Alice Poor, aged 20, came under the protection of John Hutchinson carpenter. Brother John Poor had come from Wiltshire, England earlier and settled in 1635 at Newbury. Alice Poor married a George Little who was the ancestor of most of the Littles in this country. Daniel settled in Andover, Massachusetts. He was born' cl624 and died 8 June 1689. > Daniel Poor and Mary Farnum were married in Boston 20 Oct 1650. She was the daughter of Ralph and Mary Farnum. (See Farnum). In 1655 they were in Andover, Massachusetts and settled on the Shawshin at the mouth in South Lawrence. They bought the Barnard and Bradstreet Division lots and the homestead was in the present North Andover on the road from North Parish to Lawrence near the junction of the Shawshin and Merrimac Rivers. This was known as "Shawshin Fields" and extended into "moose country".There were eleven children: Mary Poor, b. cl651, Newbury, Massachusetts. Married 23 Nov 1668 at Newbury, John Noyes who was born 20 Jan 1645, son of Deacon Nicholas and Mary Cutting Noyes. They had 10 children. Sarah Poor, b. 28 Dec 1652. Married 13 Feb 1673, Samuel,.son of Richard Pettingill. 10 children. Martha Poor, b. 4 Nov 1654, d. 1723. Married 9 Feb 1678, Chelmsford, John^-Granger. 7 daughters. DANIEL POOR, b. 5 Sept 1656, Andover, Massachusetts. John Poor, b. 5 Sept 1658. A soldier in the Canada Expedition. Never married. Hanna Poor, b. 6 May 1660, d. 17 Feb 1746. Married 16 Nov 1681, Lt. Francis Deane, son of Rev. Francis Deane. Elizabeth Poor, b. 15 Apr 1661/62. Married 7 Apr 1686, Jacob Marstone, son of John Marstone and Martha. 11 children.
