File Copy February 6, 1979 Mr. Elbert R. Hilliard, Director Archives & History Bide? Jackson, Mississippi Dear Mr. Hilliard: Subject: Bay St. Louis Minute Books During the bicentennial year it was discovered that several of the older record books of the City of Bay St. Louis were in a sad state of repair. As I recall, some of the books were to be microfilmed by the Department of Archives and history and then returned to the City Hall. Yesterday I was told by our mayor, Larry Bennett, these books were still in Jackson. I realize what a tremendous undertaking it must be to microfilm such a vast quantity of material as is undertaken by the Department of Archives and History, but I am wondering if you could bring me up to date on the status of these old records? In /l^ay *016 Sea Coast Echo plans to publish Heritage III. and a perusal cf these old records is most helpful to me in endeavoring to give accurate accounts of the happenings in Hancock County. Thank you for your helpfulness. Sincerely,
