Local realtors listed among award winners
Jim Wetzel, Harrison County assessor, addressed the Gulfport Board of Realtors recently at the Pass Christian Yacht Club.
Calling on his 27 years experience in the assessor's office, Wetzel gave an in depth report of the tax system of the county as it affects real estate, personal property, automobiles and public utilities.
He discussed the recent Mississippi Supreme Court decision concerning statewide property re-appraisals.
We warned the group that Mississippi Senate Bill No. 2762 would triple real estate taxes, if passed in its present form.
In reply, I^aReta N. Rick, local board president, stated that realtors at the national, state and local levels are dedicated to preserving the-rights and privileges of
property owners and that the local and state realtor legislative committees will be working on a bill to counter Senate Bill No. 2762.
Nell Frisbie, awards chairman, presented awards for the 1980 Million Dollar Club.
Silver awards were presented for members listing and selling a million dollars of real estate; gold awards for $1.5 million; ruby award for the realtor with the greatest number of closed sales; and diamond award for the greatest sales volume.
