Robert Potter Wingate's name suggests he might be a kinsman of Robert Potter, Signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, Texas Secretary of Navy, etc. - but it is not proven - nor disproved. Roberts move to Texas seems to have followed the path of his brother Edward who was captured, thcn escaped, at Goliad. Edward was buried in Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio in 1960, atmqst 100 years after his death. Edward was g-grand&ther ofHuey P Long. RPW's son Laban wa$Lt Gm^mor of Louisiana about 1901. Waiter ran his fathers Waccamawplantation during the AR W The Swamp Fox, Gen Francis Marion, set up camp therein Sept 1780 during which time Walter supplied provisions. Brothers ran Lockwood^Fofly Plantation while their father was at war. Phoebe'lived there with him after their piarriage. He received grant of 100 acres at White Spring Creek also. When he inherited Lockwoods Folley land he sold Waccamaw holdings in 1798 and 1800. He was a JP of Brunswick Co Court. Sold LFP, 320 acres, in 1806. Shown in Richmond Co
