The immense vater tover and tank of the City Water TJoarks vas completed and filled vith vater for the first time today, just 15 months after vork vas begun. The tover stands on four pyramids of concrete, made of oyster shells and cement, and from the ground to the top of the tank is lM-5 feet.
A hydraulic ram vill pump vater from the city's eight-inch veil into the tank, and it vill require 1^0,000 g?. lions to fill it.
The pressure on the main v'nen the vater from the tank is turned on vith full force will be 10 pounds to the square inch.
The structure can be seen for miles around, by land and sea, and when, as proposed, it is surmounted vith an arc light, vill form a beacon for navigators vhich can be seen for 30_miles.
The vork vill cost the city, exclusive of the ram, $9,900.00.
