One of the physicians, as explained to you in my former letter, refuses to become a member of the medical staff, or to subscribe to h-j by-laws and rules oftha Hospital, but insists that he shall be allowed the freedom of the Hospital for his patients, both charitable and those ^ho are able to pay*
Ac coning to the oinisruai Requirements to Constitute a Standard Hospital, adpoted at a meeting of the Hospital Commission on July 10th, 1956, all physicians practising at a Hospital receiving State Aid, must become makers of the medical Staff, and perform certain other utias set out in the Miniaraa R^uireaisnts. This is also set out in a letter afidressed to us by Dr. Lippincott, under date of Jun ; 15th, copies of both of which I enclose herewith to you*
I uncferstand from your former letter that it fill bepoa3ible for us to become eligible for State Aid, upon the organization of the ataff by the other doctors, and this has been done) however, vs are afraid that if the physician who refuses to co-operate vith us, is permitted to continue practicing at the Hospital in direct conflict with the minimum requirements, that such fact would bar us froa receiving state aid, and it is on this point we ask your advice* Tie have bean advised that under the plain provisions of the Minimum Requirements, any doctor practicing at the Hospital must be a aember of the Medical staff and conform to the other requirements, and naturally if we do not conform to these requirements, our conclusion is that we would not be eligible for State Aid.
