SEPTEMBER?S KISS
September came and on her lips was a touch of August sun.
And as she passed the dancing leaves she gently kissed each one They little knew her sweet caress would turn their green to brown And helplessly they soon would lie upon an autumn ground.
The flowers that bloom profusely beneath a summer sky,
The honey bee. the bird?s sweet song - the jaunty butterfly,
Must pass into oblivion, this seems the Maker?s way To let us know we all must face this Life?s September Day.
A SOLDIER?S SWEETHEART I met a sergeant and lieutenant.
I met a captain, too.
But when I met that plain buck private.
I knew that dreams come true.
Refrain:
I have a soldier sweetheart,
I?m proud as I can be.
He?s not a sergeant or lieutenant.
He?s just a private in the infantry .
I love my soldier sweetheart.
We plan to marry someday.
But I?m willing to wait.
For the main thing at stake.
Is the protection of the U.S.A.
