P. O. Box 1700 Jackson, MS 39215-1700 PH: 601-576-7988 web site: www.msdh.state.ms.us/phs 2. We have no knowledge of a Literary Club in the 90's (1890's?). 3. The Mitchell Cemetery will be indexed as soon as we can finish it. We must rely on volunteers to inventory them for us. 4. Unfortunately the courthouse at Gainesville, the county seat before Bay Saint Louis, burned in 1853, and the records were lost. I am not sure, but I have been told that some of the land records were recopied and that they are available on computer at the temporary Chancery Clerk's office. However, the inquirer must do his own search. I went to the cemetery today and took pictures of the Bookter family plot as well as the individual headstones therein. Most of them are quite legible; however, the slab belonging to Elizabeth and having her burial information is almost unreadable. It's the one which has the darkened slab over it. I think I have deciphered all of the information by playing with the highlighting of the photograph on the computer, etc. It seems to read "Sacred to the memory of/ Elizabeth/ Wife of Alexander Bookter/ Daughter of James Wicks/ Bom May 24, 1796/ Died July 31, 1852." It appears that Alexander had two wives?Elizabeth and Emma. Can you explain/help with Fannie B. Weir? Was she a child of Alexander, and if so, who was her mother? Emma? Also how does William J. Weir fit into the family picture? Was he the husband of Fannie? If you have further information on Alexander Bookter and his family which you can share with us, we would love to add it to our files. If I can be of further help, please let me know. Alexander is my Great, Great Grandfather. I will aploogize in advance for more questions about your site.... 1. On my Great and Great Great Grandparents Marraige records, it states (Parents of Bride and Groom not recorded until 1938) is there a way to obtain this information? 2. On my Great Grandmother Ettie's Obit, it states that she was an organizer for the Bay St. Louis Literary Club in the 90's....there is no website, do you know of this club? Or how I can get in touch?
