Three letters from Mother dated as early as two months ago have arrived. The folks ?must be very lonesome? since Poss, the last child at home, has moved to Gulfport. But ?it is only a question of time when I will be back with ?you.? Then he adds, ?I think.? His is a machine gun battalion and remains hush-hush.
Reference to battle: ?I think I can keep things lively for a while? and ?Old Fritz is getting it handed to him from all comers and is beat at his own game so we should worry.?
He hopes the latest operation on Dad?s eyes will be successful ??there is nothing will please me more.?
Apparently Gib (Gerald) is having success in the Navy. ?He always was a good kid, has Ed and [me] beat a mile.?
He has heard from Ed and all the folks in the city (New Orleans).
He signs Mec (Mechanician), the rank indicating technical as opposed to
trench duty.
1.	Em has died. Relationship unknown.
2.	Nerona (?) also unknown.
3.	Faye. A family in Bay St. Louis owned Faye?s Drug Store.
