The Key of Sea, one of Mississippi’s few designated Historical Landmarks, will be the site of the kick-off party for Coastal Community Watch, an activist group recently founded by Quarter Moon Gallery owner Ellis Anderson and local artist Lori Gordon. A highlight of the event will be a preview of Gordon’s upcoming show at Quarter Moon, a new series of paintings called “End of the Road.”
Coastal Community Watch is an internet-based activist group which promotes community involvement in decisions regarding development along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The group favors “smart growth,” development that preserves our unique quality of life. Currently, they are working to halt construction of high-density, high rise towers in the Clermont Harbor-Lakeshore neighborhood.
Popular local artist Lori Gordon chose the name for her new show of local landscape paintings with the current crisis in mind. “End of the Road” refers both to Gordon’s home in Clermont Harbor, and to the reality that her cherished neighborhood is in imminent danger of being swallowed up by high rise developments.
Also on display during the event will be paintings of the area by Reilly Morse

and Lee Robertson, and photographs by James de Buys. Morse is the attorney for a group of Clermont Harbor residents who have filed suit against the Hancock County Board of Supervisors challenging their decision to rezone the area. Both Robertson and de Buys have long been a presence in the art commu-
nity in Bay St. Louis.
The kick off party will take place on Sunday, June
5	from 2-5 p.m. The Key of Sea is located at 300 Third Street in Bay St. Louis, on the corner of Citizen and Third. Live music will be provided by Mark Guest. Members and prospective members are invited to attend, and are asked to
bring their own drink and a dish to share. Parking is limited, so please utilize the public parking lot located at Washington Street and Beach Blvd. Those who live in the neighborhood are asked to bicycle or walk to the event.	Call Ellis
