He is not listed in his father's will of 1874, and it is assumed he died between 1870 and 1874.
The parents of Nicholas Rickard were George A. Rickard and Elizabeth Stickel. George A. Rickard was born in 1785 per 1850 census of Schoharie, NY (house #1586-1587) as a widower and head of house, living with his son, Nicholas Rickard and his family. George A. was listed as a farmer, and he had no wife that year. He is next found in the 1860 census, as age 84, (1776), still living with his son, Nicholas. He is absent in the 1870 census, thus he died between 1860 and 1870 or around 1865 in Schoharie, NY.
He married Elizabeth Stickel around 1801 in Schoharie, NY based on the age of his oldest	child, Sarah.	One source gives their	marriage as December 19,
1802, but did	not cite their	source. George A. was	born on	January 13, 1782,	and
his baptismal record is in the Schoharie Baptist Church in that city. Another source has a "George Rickard" born on July 27, 1775 which was another George, brother to our George A., in Schoharie Co. but did not cite their source. We will use the 1782 date, because we feel the first George, probably died as an infant and another child was renamed, George, in honor of his older brother's death. Looking at the 1850 and 1860 censuses, either child could qualify because the census taker seems to have messed up his age on one or both records.
Elizabeth Stickel was born around 1782 and died in Schoharie before 1850.
