Cuevas named Publisher
In a joint announcement, made today, Larry Nash and Ellis Cuevas announced the promotion of Cuevas as Editor and Publisher of the Sea Coast Echo effective immediately. Nash, Editor and Publisher of the Echo for the past 10 months has accepted the position of Publisher of Today?s News, a daily paper in Harriman, Tenn.
Nash has assumed his duties at the Tennessee newspaper and his family will be moving to join him in the near future.
Cuevas, a native of Waveland, has been with the Echo since 1957, having served in a number of capacities including Advertising Director and General Manager.
The 20 year newspaper veteran started as a typesetter with the Echo in 1957 and later that year was advanced to retail advertising salesman. He was promoted General Manager in 1968. Cuevas served in the U.S. Army from
1954 to 1957. He attended St. Stanislaus (Continued on Page 10)

School and is a 1953 graduate of St. Stanislaus.
Married to the former Jane Taconi of Bay. St. Louis, the couple make their home on Genin Street in the Bay.
Cuevas is a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, where he serves as member of the Administrative Board. He is also a member of the Bay St. Louis Rotary Club.
Concerning the promotion of Cuevas, Nash stated, ?I am delighted to announce the advancement of Ellis to Editor and Publisher of the Echo. This is a wonderful opportunity for Ellis and I am sure he will do an excellent job in his new position.?
?Cuevas said, ?I am looking forward to working with the employees and readers of the Echo and providing our readers and advertisers with the fine product they are accustomed. We will strive to make continuing improvements on our product and offer additional news and service to the people of Hancock County and the surrounding area.?
At the same time, Cuevas announced the promotion of Echo Managing Editor, Jerry Whittle, as the new General Manager of the local paper.
