FISHING AL<~”G THE KISSISSIPPI GULF COAST OUT OF BILOXI WAS KIG^T' August -	1871
A FISH STORY
A friend informed us yesterday of the details of a fishing excursion undertaken a fev days since by a party of gentlemen from New Orleans. The objective point was ye ancient town of Biloxi; the party was headed by Col. F. and Major J. D. S. of the army.
They remained on the fishing grounds three days, and then gave up the sport simply from pure fatigue. They caught so many fish of the rarest gastronomic qualities that they actually got tired of their success.
Of blue fish usually so hard to catch, our sportsmen had an abundance; of pompano quite a number; of Spanish mackerel a plentiful supply—one of these choice fish being over three feet in length; to say nothing of fine, fat trout, delicious . spade fish, and a host of other denizens of the deep of every variety known to the sportsman.
We can imagine how the party must have enjoyed themselves, and only wish we had been there.
