15 Seminary. This same month, the Women of the Church purchased and donated an Eastman movie projector and screen to the church. (The latter is still in use.) This was their special project for the year. Later in the year, the Frank Stevens family also left for Austin, Texas, and the Whitney Pinnells aoved to Mesquite, Texas. Mrs. Pinnell had served as church organist and choir director for several years. The church was fortunate to have another ?ember, Mrs. Robert Teague, to immediately assume the latter duties. Mrs. Teague was an accomplished organist, having served in that capacity at the ?irst Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge for a number of years. Another accomplished musician in the church was Mrs. Lindsey, who substituted when Hrs. Teague was unable to perform her duties. Started this year by the Board of Deacons was a Memorial Fund for special gifts to the church. Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Mitchell made one of the first 91 fts to this Fund in memory of Mrs. Sheldon Rice. The communion cloths then used were a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Chris Reab, and the bulletin board at the front of the church was a gift from Messrs. Kepner and Reab. The 1961 budget was approved on November 6, 1960, in the amount of $6,000. In connection therewith, a combined Thanksgiving "Get Together" and "Loyalty Supper" was held on November 10, 1960 in the Sunday school rooms of the church to give aembers an opportunity to make their pledges for the coming year. Each member also brought cans of food, which were later distributed to needy families in the community. In a special meeting held in Columbia, Mississippi on November 29, 1960, it was voted that the Presbyteries of Meridian and Mississippi be merged. This merger, effective January 1, 1961, would form the South Presbytery. During this year, the following members had been received into the church: Mr. Mac Lindsey, Mr. Charles H. Faust, Mr. G.C. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. H.R. McEuen and Mrs. G.C. Prewitt. The year had been a memorable one from the standpoint of progress in the church, both materially and spiritually. The
