Diamondhead's commercial area has a 43,100 square foot shopping center with a large supermarket, pharmacy and a variety of specialty and convenience establishments. Three banks, medical and professional offices, and the local fire department are also located nearby. The community is protected by a 24 hour private security force. Several churches are located in the development, and all denominations are active. The 3,500 foot private airstrip extends accessibility beyond the reaches of ordinary residential communities and is simply one other amenity that makes Diamondhead unique. Project Infrastructure Diamondhead's backbone infrastructure is in excellent condition and is extensive in scope. The community is linked by 96 miles of roads. The development comes complete with a central water supply and sewage treatment and disposal system currently owned and operated by the Diamondhead Water and Sewer District. Water is supplied by two wells and two tanks. The two wells combined provide a more than adequate water supply equalling 2,440 gallons per minute, enough to serve additional homes at Diamondhead. Residents are served by 94 miles of water and sewer lines connecting 7,200 lots and residential units. The sewer system has a capacity of 1,250,000 gallons per day. Primary and secondary schools are conveniently located for Diamondhead residents and a new high school has been completed a short five miles away. Private educational opportunities are readily available in the local area, including a new private elementary school within Diamondhead. The Biloxi/Gulfport area is home to several junior and community colleges and a branch campus of the University of Southern Mississippi is located in Hattiesburg only 70 miles north of Diamondhead. Assets Diamondhead1 s size and track record are impressive: 6,400 acres with amenities unmatched in the area. Its desirability is highlighted by previous sales and development of 2,019 acres as residential lots. Approximately 1,050 acres of recreational facilities and open space were given to the property owners' association in 1985. The approximately 3,300 gross acres remaining includes 443 acres already platted as 1,326 lots and presents notable opportunities to continue and expand on Diamondhead's proven track record of success. Approximately 300 acres of prime land is currently ready for development around the existing golf course. The remaining undeveloped land can be used to create new residential and commercial property, new golf courses, recreation uses and open space, and/or be left undisturbed as wetlands or bayou. The value of the land inventory is enhanced by Diamondhead's self-contained planning process.
