Mardi Gra "?:>] ill be literally a pnrauo of history. My duty as historian has been to research the story behind the traditional ' eight flags. Alter deligent research I parted from tradition and used the Star Spangled Banner with 15 stars and 15 stripes as our 5th flag. Thus giving ?us nine Hags. As I remarked in the opening stiltmpnl, the Mississippi Gulf Coast was actually under more than eight Hags. So in keeping with ?eight Hags? ] have presented both state I lags, the Magnolia and the consulted with Jim Stevens, noted historian, and he agreed with my decision. I also suhmil my bibliography and believe I have adequate sources to back up the decision I made. To do otherwise would be to ignore 50 years of history. It is the duty of.the historian to search out the truth of history and not to perpetuate myth. This presentation is the truth of history as I see it.
