(p . 4, col. 5) issue of the New Orleans German newspaper, Tagliche Deutche Zietung. The paper says ?Christiane Frederike Hausch,? bom Goppingen, Konigreich, Wurttemberg? died yesterday at age 71, and ?lived 20 years in this city?. It also list ?grieving sons, Robert Hausch and John Hausch.? The obituary does not mention other relatives or where she was buried. We assume she is buried somewhere in New Orleans. Although her body may have been brought back to Hancock County and buried by her husband. Christina?s ?death certificate? is at the Louisiana State Archives, Baton Rouge, LA, book 62, p. 565. While we have not ordered a copy (it should have some additional good information), the Rootsweb site says she died on December 17, 1874 at age 71.
Later we will go into more detail as to Johann ?Michael? Hausch and Christina Friederike Schrag?s parents, grandparents, etc. We will now study their known children.
I.	Christiana Friederike Hausch - bom on January 12, 1834 in Jebenhausen, Germany and baptized at the local Lutheran Church. She was baptized a second time at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Kiln, MS on May 4, 1882. This record gives her birth date as January 12, 1832, as well as, her parents. She is buried in the Logtown, MS Cemetery near Pearlington, MS with a head marker that says ?Christena Asher,? born January 12, 1833 and died May 17, 1910. Family says she was living with her Son, Michael Asher, in Logtown when she dropped dead from a heart attack while hoeing potatoes in the field. She came to America with her two sisters, on May 25, 1852. Christiana had a civil marriage in Harrison Co. MS on February 1, 1854 to Charles Asher.
Charles Asher (Ascher, Asha, Hacher, etc.) was bom in 1819 as listed in the 1850 Census of Harrison Co, Ms. The record says he was a ?woodcutter? and bom in Germany. He was not married at the time. On September 23, 1852, he applied for citizenship in Harrison Co., MS and received his naturalization in Hancock Co., MS as found in the minutes of the Circuit Court, Vol. 1, p. 335. He married ?Christina Haush? on February 1, 1854 in Harrison Co., MS, (Marriage Book 3, p.6) and had several children in Hancock Co. and will be discussed shortly.
Mr. W.R. ?Robert? Johnson of Bay St. Louis, a grandson of Christiana Asher was interviewed on June 5, 1976. He was bom in 1890 and had an excellent memory. He told us he well remembers his grandmother because he lived with her in Logtown for several years before her death in 1910. He said Christiana Hausch was a ?tough and mean old lady.? He said she is buried in the old Logtown Cemetery. Her first husband, Charles Asher, Sr. is buried in a family cemetery (no head marker) approximately 3 miles west of the Waveland, MS city limits. The grave is next to where his home was on the north side of Hwy 90 in what was then ?Asherville,? now called the Bayou Phillip community. The grave was on the west side of a small road, approximately '/4 of a mile off Hwy 90. His son, Charles Asher, Jr. is also buried there in an unmarked grave.
Mr. Johnson said after Charles Asher died, Christiana married Samuel Seebold (also spelled Sebola, Seabola, Sebol, etc.) and had one daughter - Barbara Ann Seebold, his own mother. Seebold was supposed to be a ?Spanish spy? during one of our wars at the time. He deserted Christiana and was never heard from again. We have found a record in the ?index card file? at the New Orleans Public Library where ?Samuel Seebold married Christine Hausch, widow of Charley
