Circa 1730 Edward joined settlement on Cape Fear River - got plantation in St Phillips Parish on Lockwoods Folly River - a 1738 map shows his plantation - 1740joined Wm Washington (brother of George) to attack Cartagena, New Granada (now Colombia, South America) -attack failed and the Spaniards retaliated - Edward and sons resisted the attacks ? many died of disease - this was part of ?War of Jenkins Ear? - for this, Edward got 950 acres which he gave to sons John and Edward when they got married - Edwards will was in 1758 - gave the plantation he lived on to bis wife Ann, who in turn willed it to John since Edward Sr. had not given him other property as he had to other children - his son Edward Jr. unsuccessfully tried to break her will, and settled on his fathers land at Waccamaw District.
Ann Blount was daughter of James Blount and granddaughter of Captain James Blount. We have no information on James Blount. Captain James Blount ? father, also James Blount was killed in the Battle of Worcester and his mother was the ?daughter of Clare. This line is traced back past the year of1200 to Baron Robert le Blount then to Charles the Bald, 828-877, of France then to King Louis 1 the Fair, 778-840, son of Charlemagne, 768-814, King of France and Holy Roman Emperor

Governor Edmond Diggs, in 1658, issued a first patent on 200 acres of the land on the western branch of the Elizabeth River in northeast North Carolina to this Edward, moving there about 1680. His son Samuel stayed in Virginia, son Edward moved to Perquimans Precinct in NC as did bis son John.
