Tfte verification is therefore a double checking, first in the City Hall and later in the County Court House. We are assured the petitions will be ready by January 31 for the next step, and on Monday, January 31 the results will be read in the meeting room of the City Hall at 10:00 a.$. At this point I wish to urge and invite all of you to take time out and attend this meeting.

Bay St. louis is our city and it is our civic duty to assist in its progress and the welfare of its population.
With more than 300 signatures over the required 20 per cent we feel reasonably assured of the verification being in order. Should the names be stricken in excess of 300,khen there is legal provision to re-circulate the petition. We hope this will not be necessary. However, should it be, there are those who have expressed a desire to sign and we are optimistic toward, the final goal. At this point I would like to stress the petition did not require a committment. It only required that the matter be brought to a vote.
As publicity grows, so grows a series of very worthwhile questions. Hie questions include several concerned with the cost and economy angle. Will the proposed form of government cost more money to operate?
Will the cost of redistrictlng Bay St. Louis into four wards be excessive? Will redistrictlng bring about a more Just representation for the oitizens? Will the mayor be a strong mayor? Will he have powers that could be objectionable? How will the salaries be set?
How will the several functions of running a town be shared by a mayor — 4 councilmen by ward and one at larre? How will qualified men be encouraged to run for office?
