FOREWORD The information contained in this handbook was gathered by eleven committees composed of members of the local League of Women Voters. These committees interviewed the public officials and reported the facts as they were presented to them. This is a synopsis of the reports made over a period of many weeks to the other League members. Its purpose is to acquaint you with your city—its praise-worthy features, its shortcomings, and its possibilities for the future. This is a beginning. It will depend on you to continue with this work; to know more about your town, to work for its future. Your vote is your weapon. Use it thoughtfully.
