Several weeks ago, I had the pleasure to meet with you at the Historical Society Headquarters. During my visit you were kind enough to share with me your knowledge of the Claiborne Plantation and the Baldwin Lodge.
Recently, I, along with several family members, visited the site of the Baldwin Lodge. The trip took about 20 minutes (by boat) and it was very cold on the river. However, it was well worth the effort. As you might expect the Lodge is in ruins, but what remains is very interesting and provided for a wonderful day of exploration. The swimming pool, especially the walls, is in remarkably good condition. However, I do fear that due to erosion that parts of the pool my soon crumble and disappear in to the bayou. The tile walkway from the railroad tracks to the Lodge entrance is also in good condition. Several sections of the Lodge's walls are still standing.
I have enclosed some photographs of the Baldwin Lodge for your records. I want to thank you for you kind assistance and for helping to make this a more enjoyable day for my family. If ever I can be of assistance, please contact me.
