1.	By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec. II, WD Bui. 3, 1944), a Bronze Star Medal is awarded to Sergeant Virgil E. Nelson, AF 34 018 645* 155th Infantry Regiment, for exemplary conduct in ground combat against the armed enemy on or about 15 September 1944 in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
2.	Authority for this award is contained in Par. 15.le AR 600-45 and is based upon General Orders No. 51, Headquarters, 155th Infantry Regiment dated 15 September 1944.
3* The Commanding General, Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been directed to ship the medal on 9 October 1949.
