BILOXI — BOHEMIANS ARRIVING FOR THE OYSTER PACKERIES
October 16, 1902 —
Two^carloads of Bohemians arrived here this morning to work in a local oyster factory.
The other canning factories will receive like consignments this week.
October 18, 1902 —
The E.^C. ^.Joullian Packing Co. received today from Baltimore a consignment of 75 Bohemians to work in the factories. This is the third consignment"this season. More are expected this week.
The Barataria cannery is erecting a large plant for the grinding of oyster shells. This product has come into great demand for chicken food, fertilizing purposes, roofing and paving, and is being shipped in carload lots. The Company began with a small mill but the demand has grown so rapidly they have been forced to put in a 50-ton mill to meet it.
This Company is also erecting increased labor^quarters made necessary by the*outlook for business this season.

At Pass Christian another trainload of Bohemian laborers arrived.
October 22, 1902 —
The demand for raw oysters this season is hard to bill.
The shipments from Biloxi for the past ten days will average quite 200 buckets a day.
