Other sources of historical information in the New Orleans Genealogical Library should be examined. Then, there is the possibility they may have immigrated to New Orleans via Montreal or some other French settlement. Also, further investigation with French Genealogical programs can be pursued.
The information contained herein does not mean the name was originally Chouzenoux. We haven't explored enough. All we know from the extract of marriage is our ancestor was from Brive, France.
One mystery appears in the early documents from St. Louis Cathedral. On the baptismal record of Pierre Adolphe (4), born November 4, 1807, the paternal grandmother is listed as Francoise Guy. On the baptismal record of Miguel Theodule (4), born February 20, 1810, the paternal grandmother appears to be Juana Flamand. We can only speculate about this. I argue that Francoise Guy is our blood ancestor as the marriage record lists Francoise Guy as the mother of Pierre (our great-great-great-grandfather). Juana Flamand could be a second wife, but who knows? It may have been an erroneous entry.
Seuzeneau
From the information I have gathered it appears all of the Seuzeneaus in Louisiana and Mississippi descended from Pierre Seuzeneau who married Marie Amie' Chauvin Delery. I can trace to them four sons; Miguel died as an infant and the other three: Achille (our ancestor), Charles and Adolphe married and had children. Their descendants are shown in this section under the collateral Seuzeneau relatives; all the support documents that have been located are included.
Two Seuzeneaus are identified from the early descendants. Pierre and probably his sister, Marie Agnes. Pierre married Marie Amie' Chauvin Delery and they are discussed throughout this section. Marie Agnes Seuzeneau appears as the Godmother of Miguel Theodule Seuzeneau and nowhere else in the documents. She is probably the Marie who married Henry Bry as described in the Layton Castle, Monroe, Louisiana brochure (see documents). That theory fits the time period.
