Investigators were unable to conduct work at the Old Pirate House and were unable to find any evidence of a Mexican War encampment or the purported mound. In the process of searching for these sites, however, researchers recorded one previously unknown site with materials from the Late Woodland period as well as materials from 18th - 20th century historic habitations. This site was recommended as potentially eligible for the NRHP.
Architectural Survey Findings Pre-Katrina National Register Historic Districts
FEMA reevaluated the historic district boundaries of the four National-Register districts^ described in the pre-Storm Multiple Resource Area (MRA) nomination, Historic Resou Bay St. Louis (Partial Inventory Historic and Architectural Sites), which was certified by15 NPS in 1980. The Beach Boulevard National Register Historic District was the largest of the four districts and encompassed 690 buildings and 362.5 acres, including a nearly two-mile strip of Beach Boulevard as well as most of the old central biisiness core and surrounding residential neighborhood. It contained a unique collection of significant architecture dating from 1790 through the 1940s. Vernacular, Greek Revival, Queen Anne,""Colonial Revival, Bungalow and Mission styled structures were all a part of the collection. The Beach Boulevard Historic District

experienced the heaviestjoss from Katrina. Over 30 percent of the buildings were destroyed, with the worst damage occurring on Beach Boulevard, the first blocks to the west of St. Louis Bay in the area south of Main Street and in the northern section of the district. On Beach Boulevard, 53 houses and businesses were destroyed, only 17 historic structures stand today. The storm swept away buildings on the northern and southern sections of the boulevard from north of Bay View Court (just south of Highway 90) to the northern boundary of the district and from Bookter Street to the southern boundary. On those parts of Ballentine, Sycamore, Washington and St. Charles streets located in the district (east-west streets in the southern part), the damage was equally devastating. On Ballentine Street, only four of the 29 buildings survive, while on St. Charles one of the 15'buildings still stands. On Washington Street, only 17 of the 41 pre-storm resources included in tke Beach Boulevard district remain, while Sycamore Street has retained 24 of its 49 buildings. FEMA recommended delisting the Beach Boulevard Historic District. The
