25 Faye had found a place in Pass Christian to replace It. On the water, a beautiful site. So this very successful businessman and shopping center developer ended up with a beautiful home on the water in Pass Christian. They eventually moved there from Hattiesburg, their prior home. And they Joined this church, as a result. Also, this year saw the passing away of Mr. Charles Gallassero, who had been elected a Deacon but did not live to be ordained, and Mr. Chris teab, an Elder who had been a charter member of the church and was greatly missed. Mr. Reab had been a contractor by trade and had helped muchly in the aew church building; sixteen memorial gifts were presented to the church in his name. On July 20th, the annual church picnic was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson in Pass Christian, transportation being provided for all -fho needed it. Each lady prepared food, and a del ic ious picnic dinner was enjoyed by all. Entertainment and a good time followed. In addition, at the end of the summer, it was noted that Mrs. Lindsey had become seriously ill and was hospitalized for many weeks. The Women of the Church, during her long convalescence, prepared Beals each day and took them to the manse, among other duties they assumed. All in the church were grateful when Mrs. Lindsey was able to take her Pi ace in the choir and at the Women of the Church ?eet ings. During the year, Messrs. Calvin, Thomson and Dossett took turns teaching the men's Bible study class, while the ladies' class was taught by Mrs. Muriel Fisher. At the end of 19S3, the Sunday school had an enrollment of 61, which was an increase of about 30% over the previous year. The Sunday of December 22nd was an important one for the children of the Sunday school. They then participated in the first Christmas Pageant ever held at the church, under the direction of Mrs. Kenneth Teague and Mrs. Harold Cook. It was held in the afternoon in connection with a candlelight service for the Joy Gift. All agreed that this pageant should be repeated, since the children did exceptionally well and those who attended thought it a very impressive service.
