EPISODE EIGHT—THE COMING OF TOE IRON HORSE
What an era the middle of the Nineteenth Century proved to be. Haircuts and shaves were twenty-five cents and dressed pork was seven cents a pound. However, the coming of the railroad was doubtless die most important single event in the history of the County. Its construction was an engineering epic, and transportation accomplishment of national significance. There was festive air, and all the folks were in their best attire for the big event. It was indeed a gala holiday.
