PVT. RUSSELL LAFONTAINE
Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Lafontaine of Lakeshore were advised by the War Department that their son Russell Lafontaine had been killed in action in the European Theatre of war.
This young man had been wounded on two occasions and had returned to the battlefields.
It is the fighting spirit of men of this type that make our armies stani out as the great lighting machine that it is. This country owes to these boys a debt of gratitude that can never .be paid.
We join with the many friends o*j the family in extending sincere sym pathy.

PVT. ALBERT J. FAVRE
Technician, Fifth Giade Charles J. Favre, Army 'Engineering Corps and Private Albert J. Favre, Army Medical Corps, sons of Frank Favre of the Edwardsville community, are both in the Philippines an^ recently met after not having seen each other in ) two years.

PRIVATE GLENN FRIERSON
Private Glenn Frierson entered service in December, 1942. Received his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky- . In April 1943 he was sent overseas, i and was in North Africa during the) Sicilian Invasion. He was later transferred to England and took part in the invasion of France.
He evacuated prisoners under heavy artillery fire in the St. Lo sector and was awarded the Bronze Medal for meritorious service.
He is now attached to the First Army somewhere in Germany.

PVT. HORATIO FRIERSON, JR.
Private Horatio Frierson, Jr., is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frierson. He is presently attached to the 95th Infantry with General Patton’s 3rd Army.
These boys all attended grammar school at Aaron Academy and later High School at Picayune. J. Q. also attended Pearl River Jr. College at Poplarville.

Long, state director of selective service, said to the press today that the need of the employers was for EXPERIENCED older men while the need of the armed forces for younger physically fit men. The local boards of selective service are prepared to interview. and handle these cases now^

Bruce S. Crutchfield, S l|c, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Crutchfield, and Miss Eleanor Romaine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Romaine, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, whose marriage was recently celebrated. Bruce is on leave from the Navy after servicein the Pacific.
