we already discussed. There are several others in the household in 1840 which we believe to be Alex’s wife and other relatives. The 1850 census of Marion County lists his wife as “D. Cannon” while the 1860 census of Marion County lists her as “Drucille Cameron.” One of her grandsons, John “Bryant” Cameron (born 1885), told us in 1971 that she was Drusilla “Drusy” Dearman. Some other descendants of this old couple told us the same thing about Drusy. Bryant said his grandfather, Alex, was bom in South Carolina for sure, and this is verified by the 1850 census record. He also said that he felt sure Alex and our Jesse Cameron were brothers. This family and many of their descendants today make Marion County and surrounding counties their home. Bryant told us that his grandfather died before he could remember. He probably died before 1880 because his wife, Drusy, appears with no husband in the 1880 Marion County census. Who is possibly this Alexander Cameron is found in the Civil War records that list an “Alex Cameron,” sergeant, killed in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on May 17, 1863, with the 38th Regiment of the Mississippi Infantry. Keep in mind, two of his probable nephews, Abijah and Erasmus Cameron (believed to be sons of Hugh Cameron) were also killed at Vicksburg in 1862 and 1863. Drusy was bom in Mississippi in 1820 according to the 1850 Marion County census. Bryant told us she died in 1906 and both are buried in Byrd Line cemetery (now called Midway cemetery) near Lumberton, Mississippi. Mrs. Almedia Saucier Cameron, (age 91), living in Richton, Mississippi, told us in July of 1972 that Drusy Dearman had a sister that married William Cameron (Alex’s brother), and she was called Jane Dearman. There was at least one other member of that family called “Ely” or “Eli” Dearman.
The following is a list of the children of Alex and Drusy Cameron with some information on each:
A.	Bryant Cameron - bom in 1841 in Mississippi according to the 1860 census of Marion County. He married Mary M. Sumrall on February 8, 1866, in Marion County, Mississippi. The 1890 Education Book in Marion County lists his children going to school as: William age 20, Lorenza (male) 16, Maranda (female) 16, Eliza 14, Henry 11 and Allen 9. The 1885 School Record shows children of “B. Cameron” as: George 18, Sarah 16, W.A. 14, Lorenza, Elizabeth 12, Maranda 10, Louisa 7, and Henry 5. Bryant Cameron told us that he remembered hearing of this uncle and that he moved to Marion County when he (Bryant - our source) was small. A researcher on Ancestory.com list his children as:
1.	Mary Elizabeth Cameron - 1872 to 1941.
2.	Celia Miranda Cameron - 1874.
3.	Enoch Lorenza Cameron - 1874 to 1954.
4.	Eliza Cameron - 1875.
5.	Henry J. Cameron - 1880.
6.	Allen J. Cameron - 1882 to 1906.
7.	Jesse Bryant Cameron - 1888 to 1944.
8.	Hattie Cameron - 1892 to 1981.
