Nearly a million online nominations were tallied to choose the top 100 names that people consider to be the greatest Americans. Among such legends as Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein, one local hero - Kiln native Brett Favre - made the list of all-time greats. A Discovery Channel series,
Greatest American, will present the top 25 nominees each Sunday evening through the month of June. On June 26, a grand finale televised live from New York will decide the one name considered to be the greatest American.
