Ella Firsching, prominent Bay Saint Louis residents in the early 20th century. I have recorded many stories which he shared with me during his final years. Most of these reflections offer more "flavor of the times", than historical significance but, if you wish, I will share some of them with you. Certainly I understand if you have no interest.
In the October newsletter I read of Grady Howells book regarding the CSA Mississippi Third Infantry. Enclosed are photo copies of pictures of my great uncle Eli Ayres (on my mothers' side). He died in the service of the Confederacy near Chattanooga in 1862. Not only can I provide pictures of Uncle Eli but have three letters which may be of interest. The first is from Eli to his wife Jane and is dated July 24, 1862. The second dated August 18, is also written from Eli to Jane. Oddly enough, the last s written only five days later and is addressed to Jane from her brother announcing Elis death. If there is any interest, I will provide color copies of the pictures and letters. Just let me know.
My fathers? physical condition required my almost constant presence here. I now plan to visit you soon to share stories and
