This indenture made this 7th day of January 1815 between Colmore Morris of Ohio County find State of Kentucky of the one part and his four children Towit Mary Talbot Morris, Nancy Morris, Thomas B. Morris, Junior, Eliza Morris, of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witness: Whereas about the year 1810, Nathaniel Talbot of Maryland departed this life leaving Two negroes Towit Bavic, a boy and Cas a girl, also money and other property to the amount of five hundred dollars which said negroes, money and other property was to be conveyed to and divided equally between the said Children as a gift from their great grand father, and the said Colmore having received & got possession of the said negroes, money & other property through his father Thomas B. Morris for the use & benefit of his said children, and the said Colmore having appropriated to his own use the said money (having still the possession of the said negroes) and whereas the aforementioned facts are not of record and the said Colmore being desirous that the right of his said children should be perpetrated and that they may be indemnified for the money appropriated as aforesaid and that a public record be made of the facts aps. This indenture interprets that the said Colmore for and in consideration of the premises and of the further Consideration of five Shillings to him in hand paid hath granted bayn & sold and by these presents doth grant & convey unto the Said Mary Talbot Morris, Nancy Morris, Thomas B. Morris, Jr. & Eliza Morris the following property. Towit the Said negro boy Bavic and the said negro Girl Cas also Three head of horses, six head of Cattle, six head of sheep, all his Stock of Hoggs, Household & Kitchen furniture, All which are now in his possession. To have and to hold the property herein described to the Said Mary, Nancy, Thomas, & Eliza forever, but the Said Colmore reserves to himself the use & possession of said property until the his Said Children Shall arrive at the full age of twenty one years, at which time the Said property is to rest in their family and to be equally divided between them in Such Manner as Shall be found most equitable & just. In Testimony whereas the said Colmore hath here unto Set his hand and affixed his Seal, Day and year first above written.
