was our Music Director. Dr. Bannister donated the azalea plants for the church grounds. On September 30, 1951, Stanley A. File was licensed as a minster of the Gospel at a short business meeting following the regular morning service.
On the back of the church's Greeting Card was published the year's accomplishments, entitled "Memoirs of 1950." They were listed in order of the months:
Dr. R. L. Lee resigned as pastor effective October 28, 1951, after seeing a year's growth in all phases of church work.
On January 12, 1952, Brother Schuyler Batson was called to be our pastor. At this time the Women's Missionary Service reported a membership of 40 and there was an enrollment of 29 in Sunbeams and Girls in Action. Dr. G. Tureli's widow gave $400 for purchase of an organ. The church library was started by Mrs. A. E. Alexander. One Hundred Dollars was donated to the Lakeshore Mission Revival. The Vacation Bible School that year donated $35 to be given to the Lakeshore Mission building for repairs. In September of that year the church accepted the motion made to sponsor meetings being held in Waveland. Under Rev. Batson?s leadership, a Mission Church was formed and called Waveland Baptist Chapel and in 1960, this mission attained church status. In 1966 it reported an enrollment of 215 members with an assessed valuation of property at $65,000. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Buice were our choir leader and pianist.
In 1953, our church took another step forward in its building program. The Hart property listed as "Lot 542, First Ward, City of Bay St. Louis, Hancock County as per official map or plat made by E. S. Drake, Civil Engineer and filed in the office of Chancery Clerk of Hancock County," was purchased by the church at a cost of $9,000, with $2,500 down and a monthly installment of $120
