In my search for early records of the Carr family, I find that both the Carr and the Adams families came from the same part of Scotland. Reference, "Surnames of Scotland by George Black, Page 7, under Adam".
Duncan Adam who lived in the reign of Robert the Bruce, had four sons, Robert, John, Reginald, and Duncan. All of the Adams, Adamson, Macadam and Adies families descended from these four sons. From these four sons descended four very famous men, Robert Adams b.1728 d.1792, the architect, in antiques this is known as "The Adams Period". John Loudon Macadam, the famous road builder, known as Macadam Roads. John Adams the second president of the United States, and John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of the United States.
