at 4% interest starting June 10, 1953. A Deed of Trust was executed in favor of Agnes Mary Wentworth. The old homestead was to become the Educational Building and an apartment for the Music Director. Carroll and Wanell Lowe joined us as music leader and pianist. In February the Sunday School enrollment was listed as 253. A Leadership Banquet was held at Hotel Reed in October of this year, and the cost of each plate was $1.50.
In March 1954, the Church recommended the licensing of Ted Perry to the ministry. The next year, this young man attended Boys State held in Jackson by the American Legion and was elected Governor. Later during the summer he attended Boys Nation and was elected President. Brother Batson, in his article in the Baptist Training Union Magazine of May 1955, said of him "God has blessed him in a marvelous way with a splendid personality, a sure voice, and a deep consecration to the service of Christ." No wonder his fellow church members are saying, "Keep your eyes on that boy, He's going places for the Lord!"
The church resolved the air conditioning project which totaled $6,195 with a $3,750 down payment and a balance payable at $69.06 monthly starting July
20,1954,	to Fox Engineering Company of New Orleans. The installation of duct and grill work was contracted to Adolph Bourdin of Pass Christian for $1,802 plus 2% Mississippi Sales Tax. This was also the year that it was decided to give pins for perfect attendance in Sunday School each year and to sponsor a bus, operated by Mr. Charlie Beam, to transport boys from Camp Jordan for services on Sunday at a cost of $15.00 per Sunday in cooperation with the Methodist Church.
On May 8,1955, a motion was made at the Deacon's Meeting to set aside $1,200 at $25.00 a month for 4 years in the 1956 Church budget to help in the establishment of a camp such as Camp Garaywa on the Mississippi Coast. During this year a Church census was taken. At a meeting of September 11, 1955, the sale of the parsonage at 336 Carroll Avenue was talked about. On October 27, 1955, this property was sold to Ed Ortte and L. B. Daron for $8,500. This is recorded in Deed Record Book K-4, Page 565. Later, on December 14,
